Suspension members Lance Locker ’27 and Andrew Kim ’27 took to the CNC mills for several hours on Saturday evening to manufacture their aluminum rockers — NFR25's first finished mechanical component. The team worked throughout the summer to accelerate their timeline so the parts could be made in the fall. With winter and spring quarters remaining, the pair contacted partner DMG Mori to explore stainless steel 3D-printed rockers optimized for weight savings. This partnership also aims to help the team gain a better understanding of additive manufacturing applications for future uses, such as in-hub motors.
Aerodynamics is also working hard to finish routing the MDF panels for the bodywork. Aerodynamics Lead Danish Galebotswe '26 and Aerodynamics member Taewon Yoon '26 have been using this as an opportunity to teach new members how to use the CNC router and how to glue the panels together.
As always, our team is very open to feedback from our alumni, so please feel free to reach out!
See you next week,
