Hey

My Code Club at Carnforth Christ Church CofE VA Primary School has been awarded Star Club status.

What is a Star Club? https://www.codeclub.org.uk/star-clubs will tell you all about it.

Very happy with this. I asked my Code Clubbers then the Headteacher before I applied.

We're looking forward in sharing our journey.

Oh yes I also delivered the CCTT KS2 Programming module to the teachers at the beginning of this term as well. Here is the link for that. https://www.codeclubpro.org/

Keep Code Clubbing!!!

Simon

Congrats to you both and good luck with your hundred words. There were some other great submissions too & I know it was a hard task for the guys involved to look at the questionnaire / data and pick just two clubs.

Hi Liz

Thanks very much for that and I know that everyone at Carnforth Christ Church are very pleased with the accolade. I think they are just realising what an opportunity this is for their school, their pupils and for their teaching staff. The staff can now move forward with the knowledge and confidence they gained from their recent Code Club Teacher Training (Programming).

Please fee free to visit us Liz. The club currently runs on Thursday 3:15 to 4:15.

I'm even more impressed to learn that there were only two Star Clubs created in the Northwest cohort. Just out of interest, do you know how any applied?

I am now going to use this as an opportunity to spread the word to the surrounding area starting with our local library to host a public session on Saturdays. Sarah is a fantastic person who does a wonderful job. I will invite her along to our club to see if she wants to have a Code Club at her library. You never know maybe Lancashire County Council might think it's good idea to role it our across their library network.

Brill, yep I'll visit at some point after half-term ... thank you.

I'm about to cc you into an email because Lancaster district library service wrote to me this morning - my geography is pretty bad but I think it might all overlap nicely!

Wow... only 2 of us!
The kids, parents, and school are so enthused that we acheived Star club status that they'll go barmy when they find out we're 1 of 2! :)
Though we havent done teacher training, just like Simons school, the staff have now really woken up to what we do and the opportunities it could bring.   It has taken 3 years though! Think its helped that they are now teaching Scratch in the classroom and the code clubbers are telling them how to do it properly.
Ive now got my essay as well as big code club wall display to do (requested by the school) this holiday.

Lisa

Yes it's taken 3 years here as well. I took the opportuntiy to have a chat with the schools local county council librarian and she's keen as mustard to get an open code club started.

I need to ask the school to make sure that the Code Club Star Club information is all over their school. It's already on the frontpage of their website. http://christchurch-carnforth.lancs.sch.uk

Have a great week!
