Greetings Multihullers,

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 3.

The doors open at 6:15 PM at our usual meeting place:  Puget Sound Yacht Club, 2321 North Northlake Way, in Seattle.

Please bring your favorite potluck items to share. Presentation begins at 7:00pm.

Our Presenter will be club member Mich Beaulieu.  Mich is an experienced racer and cruiser, and currently sails his X-119 Leucothea all over the Salish Sea with partner Akiko Onozuka.  Prior to moving to Seattle, Mich and Akiko lived and worked for 5 years in Dubai, where Akiko sailed a Weta, and Mich (mostly with Akiko), sailed a highly optimized F28R.  Mich also served as multihull handicapper for the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club.  Mich will be telling us about his experiences as a resident and sailor in Dubai, sailing in the Persian Gulf, the strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman  (with pictures!.) This is fascinating part of the world, too much in the news at the moment, and we are fortunate to have Mich available to provide a peek into the life of a sailor in a part of the world that is very far from the frigid gloom of late winter Seattle.

Start Time for Visiting until Presentation starts at 7pm: March 6, 2026 06:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)

Hi All,

I mentioned at the presentation that I would send photos of the Nigel Irens catamaran that's based in Dubai.

The sales listing says maximum hull speed is 11 knots. Does that seem low to anyone else? I can beat that in my WindRider!

I think the 11 knots hull speed is under engine.  The boat can certainly sail faster than 11 knots.. especially when flying a hull.

“Hull speed” is a number calculated from hull geometry.  It does not mean that’s how fast the boat can go.

Cool boat... looks like Nigel took some inspiration from Chris White Atlantics...
