Our next meeting
will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
Also be sure and save the date for our annual Holiday Party - in person only, Sat Dec 6.
We do hope you will come for
the camaraderie, and to hear Leela Ray speak on:
What They Don't Teach You on the Racing Team: A Beginner’s Guide to Bottom Paint
After
inheriting her father's F-28 Trimaran, Alii Kai, two years ago, Leela
encountered 2 decades of deferred maintenance—unfinished projects her
dad had asked for help with that never quite made it onto the to-do
list. While the UCSB sailing team taught her how to race, nothing
prepared her for boat ownership, except the NWMA, of course.
This
month, Leela will share what she and her sister learned from completing
their first major project: replacing their bottom paint—and all the
side quests that accompanied finally doing the work they wish they'd
done with their dad. You'll hear about everything from finding a
boatyard, to selecting the right paint, to mastering the coveted "roll
and tip" technique. Whether you stay on top of maintenance or are
staring down your own list of postponed projects, you'll find practical
advice, heartfelt humor, and a reminder that it's never too late to
honor those who taught us to love sailing.
The doors open at 6:15 PM at our usual meeting place: Puget Sound Yacht Club, 2321 North Northlake Way, in Seattle. Please bring your favorite potluck items to share. Presentation begins at 7:00pm after a short NWMA Officer update.
