My brother-in-law and fellow sailor in Bellingham let me know about a place where Samson Ropes donates leftover remnants of rope, including Amsteel.

Go to the Re-Use store, here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6WvNaxB7uJjF4sUx6

They're only open 9am-2pm, Saturdays only. I was there last weekend and scored everything in this photo for fifty bucks. Some of it is priced higher, especially for long stretches of line. But there was an entire garbage can of < 30' lines for five dollars a bundle.

I was up there around last fall and they had very little.  The guy said they no longer get spool ends as some of the local retailers were complaining to Sampson about them being undercut.  Apparently some numb nuts were grousing to the retailers about high prices compared to what they can get at the Reuse store.   Some people have no sense?!#%^&*.  This might have changed so give em a call.
