Does anyone have thoughts on Jack Line locations on an F9r?

Looks like some solo races in the Sound require them...

Normally I would be inclined, on a Puget Sound Race, to stay untethered wearing the appropriate swim gear and having a functioning VHF radio on my person...

If I must, it seems that having one attachment point in the cockpit (while steering) and then two lines from the stemhead fitting to the cockpit (one on each side of the main hull) might be appropriate.

Jeff: I installed a padeye in my anchor locker, and ran jacklines along the deck to the lifting eyes on the cabin top. I only installed them to meet BAMA requirements for ocean racing. They mostly just got in the way. If I can unbury them from storage you're welcome to use them.
Vince: I can't believe you don't have an autopilot! Absolutely essential for singlehanding or sailing with kids or others who can't or don't want to handle the boat.

What solo races are you thinking of?  I am thinking about fitting an autopilot, on the theory that maybe Kristin would be more comfortable sailing 2-up comfortable if I could handle the boat entirely by myself.

Vince,

Sloop Tavern... a single handed (Single Handed Race) and a double handed (Down the Sound) that  seem to have the requirement.

Dude, tiller pilots are the bomb.  Nothing beats having the entire family and dogs spread out on the front nets enjoying snacks and sun as the tiller pilot ushers you on your way.  Extra bonus that the stern is out of the water then as well.  :)  Mine is the larger tiller pilot and hooks on mid tiller.  Works well.

Bill,

I do not have lifting eyes but it makes sense to me to keep the lines on the mail hull.  I think I have a pad-eye in the anchor locker... or I could use the bow cleat I suppose.

Been cruising and just got back to internet.

Vince,

I have an old ST 1000 and it works great.  i can do everything on the boat by myself using it.  Haven't done much high wind sailing.  Its been mostly 10 knots and below.   I doubt i'd want to do much spinaker gybing in 15 or more.

Jeff,

Your jack line idea sounds adequate to me.
