Hey All,

Is anyone else planning on Swiftsure? We just entered and right now it only looks like Cheekee Monkey as the other multihull 🤞🤞

cheers

Akiko and I may be available if anyone's looking for crew with offshore/distance racing experience.

We are considering entering our X119 monohull but it hasn't complied with OSRs for quite a few years..

That would be Lykke, a Dragonfly 35 Touring that is based out of Portland and is also entered in the Pacific Northwest Offshore along with Ceres, an Outremer 55 Light, Cheekee Monkee, and Presto. At the moment there is an opening for another boat. Another multihull would be great.

OK... I have been told that my sales pitch was somewhat lackluster and brought images of bashing around only to be becalmed for days at Swiftsure Bank and then bashing all the way back to Victoria.
No.
I apologize.

The brochure for the applicable Swiftsure course reads more like this (from my Seattle-centric view):
Leisurely (beautiful) sail from Seattle to Port Townsend Thursday.  Beer drinking and food on the Sirens balcony overlooking Admiralty Inlet as the golden hour sets the bay alight.  Breakfast at the Blue Moose on Friday morning followed by a leisurely (beautiful) sail (possible motoring) across the Strait of Juan de Fuca (soundtrack of your choice).  Landing/welcoming party at Victoria provided by RCMP immigration (leave that pot, pitted fruit and potatoes behind folks).  Friday afternoon finds us strolling the Victoria environs... sipping some tea possibly... certainly hobnobbing with like souls tied up at the dock.  Dinner at an extravagant local restaurant followed by a cheese plate and nightcap on the boat.  Saturday finds us obtaining a leisurely cup of coffee and breakfast before the race start, which is a civilized time (nothing like the R2AK... this is Canada...).  The multi race is a quick stroll to Clallam Bay and back.  Not even far enough to deprive you of sleep but still far enough that you stretch your bedtime a bit.  Not even as mildly difficult as getting all the way to Neah Bay.  You never get even close to Swiftsure Bank.  OK... the hard bit.  Do you park it up in Victoria and enjoy more of what can be had (poutine for breakfast anyone?) after the race, or bust straight to Port Townsend for more leisurely sampling of the local culture on Sunday?  Either way... it is then a leisurely (beautiful) sail back to Seattle getting you back in time to mow the lawn Monday morning.

Did I mention all the fun it is to hang out with your Multihull brethren?

Official end of registration is May 15th... but they do leave the door open by saying late applicants will be allowed at their discretion.  Soo.... plenty of time to get it together.
