Packing back-and-forth very nicely in a very light breeze under weird orange sky

Tacking not packing.  Ugh that’s what I get for composing messages on my phone.

Thanks for taking that. That was my son and I on Hyperion, Dash 750. He was trimming Jib and the inadvertent back winding was helping us in that light stuff!

We signed up for the rest of the Ballard Cup as well!

You are welcome.  I just happened to be walking my dog there when I saw you.  Lots of people were taking pictures and videos of you, it was quite an interesting shot with that weird orange sun.

OMG.  Nothing like having your packs videoed to bring out the deep technical analyses!

Do you think he did better on port pack or starboard pack?

My best pack by far was the 6, ice cold too.

FWIW I always backwind the jib when tacking especially when the main is full. I learned this on Hobies. There’s even a word for this in French: “foc-a-contre”.

On my boat if I'm using the genoa I have to backwind it to get it through the gap between the forestay and inner stay.  The alternative is to furl as you go through the tack and unfurl after the tack.  Which does works if I have skilled crew.  Tacking on Dulcinea is an exercise in patience.  :-)
