Those of us that know, know. But it is a bit difficult to promote to potential members as a variable discount - I've seen zero discount on some items up to "very significant" on items that are already priced competitively.
And I've spoken with members who forget about the discount!
I've compared some prices with a friend who has a business account, both at the introductory "new business account" discount level as well as the "now you are a bigger business" upgraded level. Our discount is often better than the "new business account" level, while not quite as good as the "upgraded bigger business account" level.
I think if you are doing significant work like building or heavily modifying a boat the NWMA discount would pay for your membership dues in a few months.
But if you own and actively use your own boat I'm convinced the NWMA membership dues pay for themselves in Fisheries discounts every year and then some. Of course you can often find cheaper retail prices online if you shop around - but I've also seen Fisheries have the best price even before our discount for items they stock in store and you can pick up same day.
Here are a few examples of "owner stuff":
Fisheries Retail NWMA Discount Online cheapest
Fasco Ultimate SS Screw Kit $136 $123 $150
Antal Roller Cleat 4400lbs $333 $308 $326
Racor 120R-RAC gasoline filter $128 $115 $119
