Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven."

The Practice of Daily Giving

The Practice of Daily Giving

We seek to please Allah, Most High, through the knowledge we gain from the Prophetic example in so that through His leave He transforms our hearts, our families, our communities for the better. Imam al-Haddad in the Book of Assistance challenges us to do something simple that can transform our lives and the lives of those around us. Alhamdulillah, many of us give to many different causes but often it is after we are asked to give or it is for a short period of time. This is different. This type of giving is about making an intention to give something regularly and continuously for the rest of one's life. It is what we call a wird, a daily practice, a covenant we make with Allah. The Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace said, "The most beloved of actions to Allah is that which is done inveterately even if small." Imam al-Haddad mentions about the act of giving, "Never neglect to give something away every day, even if a small amount, and do this early, for hardships to not cross [the protective barrier of] charity . . . Know that charity has immediate and long term benefits: it immediately increases provision, lengthens life, protects from an evil death, gives bodily health and puts baraka into wealth."

Ramadan Agenda:

One of the gems our teachers taught us is that one should make intentions for future works during Ramadan. Even if the work may occur after Ramadan, the intentions are rewarded as works of Ramadan. Furthermore, a voluntary deed in Ramadan is rewarded like an obligation and an obligation is rewarded 70 times over in Ramadan. So in addition to other intentions one makes, we are encouraging our brothers and sisters to renew their intention to do the daily charity after Ramadan begins. We encourage everyone to consider joining LaunchGood in the Ramadan Challenge/30 Days of Giving to reap the multiplied rewards of giving in this month while supporting worthy causes and/or by becoming a sustained monthly donor to Beacon Foundation with the intention of supporting the work throughout the year, and it's hoped that this will be enveloped in the additional blessings of Ramadan. Please remember us and the Umma in your prayers.

Opportunities to Multiply Your Deeds

RAMADAN REMINDERS

  • Voluntary work is like an obligation and an obligation is like 70x extra in Ramadan.
  • Seek Laylatul Qadr starting in the last 10 days of Ramadan.  However, an intelligent believer should be prepared to seek it every day in Ramadan.
  • Some companions held the opinion that the night of power moves throughout the month. Imam al-Hadad holds the opinion that it occurs outside of the last 10 days but most likely during the last 10. Seek it throughout the month.
  • Take care of the needy and those who are overlooked. We should seek those people out and have an awareness of them.
  • One should increase one's recitation of Quran and study-- mudarasa
  • Try to do as much i'tikaf (especially last 10 days) as possible --- put devices aside, even for a few hours. Having some time to focus on Allah is a blessing
  • Historical Events in Ramadan: Fath Makkah was in Ramadan; Battle of Badr was in Ramadan on the 17th.
