The Award Winning Steel Farm Passivhaus Is Being Opened To The Public

Homes such as this mark a step change in quality for the UK construction industry. In order to deliver high performance homes successfully key challenges need to be overcome. At this open day you will learn about the obsticles that need to be addressed when designing and building a high quality home.

Access to the open day is FREE, however because last year was so hectic, for 2014 we have had to put a cap on the total number of visitors.

So who will be interested in the open day?

In short if you are looking to build a new home, or refurbish an existing one, within the next 12 to 24 months that this is an event that you shouldn't miss. Why should you be interested? Whilst it may sound a little over dramatic it is actually fair to say that...

The UK Home Building Industry is in Crisis

You see, over the last 20 years studies by Leeds Beckett University have shown that a staggering 95% new homes are not performing correctly. They use more energy than they should, are less comfortable and pose a risk to your health and well being. This means that when hiring an architect or a builder you and your family may not be getting what you pay for.

Luckily Leeds Beckett University have also found that with the correct design and construction that these performance issues can be addressed. The research latest suggests that many of the lessons for addressing the home building crisis can be found in homes built to the Passivhaus Standard.
