Good morning NTX friends,

Team 6566 will be flying to the Kentucky Premier event later this month. Our school district will not allow the sponsors to drive that far under their insurance policy. We may have to fly with our robot. Does anyone have suggestions for packing the robot in checked luggage? Ways to make the process easier?

Thanks so much!

Checking in is good option. You may get a Large Pelican box with cushioning. It will r an oversized and probably overweight luggage, extra payment will be needed. We used a box like this in past

Hi Julia,
We are going too!
I have been researching options.  I started a thread on ftc channel in Texas Robot Mentors and got some good info from Patrick Michaud.  Technical Difficulties uses the pelican 350 case and recommended getting wheels.  They have a tray they designed and built to sit on the case that holds the robot.  That way it doubles as a cart.  Robo Source has a case design that some VEX teams use, and I've seen a DIY option online as well.

Our batteries are okay to check, because they are not lithium ion, so that's a plus.  But we should make sure the labels are clearly visible.

I was warned to watch the weight of checked baggage, because they can charge extra.  I'm trying to think about what we should check, and what we can carry on.

I will let you know if I learn anything else and please keep me posted if you have any tips.  Thanks for starting the conversation.

Best Regards,
