Friday Chat: How to Stop Harry Reid’s Destructive Energy Bill
Dear BEVERLY ,
Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced he would bring a cap-and-tax proposal to the floor of the U.S. Senate in the coming weeks. Reid and President Obama are trying to take advantage of the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico to pass an unpopular and jobs-destroying bill that radically increases the power of the federal government.
On Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern, Heritage Action will host an online chat to discuss Reid’s attempt to hijack the American economy. I will be joined by The Heritage Foundation’s Jack Spencer, who just returned from the gulf of Mexico, Heritage’s energy and environmental economist David Kreutzer, and Heritage Action Senior Strategist Dan Ziegler.
Reid’s draconian proposal, which is being crafted behind closed doors, will include caps on emissions, energy quotas, a new tax, and rules aimed at punishing domestic oil producers. President Obama and Harry Reid want to use this crisis to short-circuit debate and restructure whole portions of the economy.
Heritage Action for America is committed to defeating this cap-and-tax plan, but we cannot do it alone. Join us Friday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern to learn how costly it could be and how you can help stop it.
The American people deserve better governance. The experts at The Heritage Foundation will tell you true costs and impacts of this type of bill. Armed with that knowledge, you can help defeat this dangerous and misguided special-interest policy.
I hope that you’ll be able to join us. Thank you for your dedication to our shared conservative values.
Sincerely,
Dan Holler Communications Director Heritage Action for America
