Dear Bruce,
The Society of Professional Journalists <http://spj.org/> has spent a century standing up for the First Amendment rights of journalists across the nation. The organization is honored to award the Eugene S. Pulliam First Amendment Award <http://www.spj.org/a-pulliam.asp> annually to a person or persons who have fought to protect and preserve one or more of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. If you or someone you know has done outstanding work that you believe should be celebrated with this award, please nominate that person. Learn more about the eligibility requirements and nomination packets on the SPJ website <http://www.spj.org/a-pulliam.asp> . The deadline to submit a nomination is July 1. If you have any questions about the award, please contact Lauren Rochester at lroch...@spj.org or at 317-927-8000 ext. 210.
And speaking of First Amendment rights, at the 2010 SPJ Convention & National Journalism Conference in Las Vegas <http://www.spj.org/convention.asp> , we’re presenting multiple opportunities for editors to learn about hard-hitting Freedom of Information issues. For example, some of our convention professional development programs include how to get public records when stretched for time and a half-day workshop about posting government data online for your readers <http://www.spj.org/c-programs.asp> .
You’ll get those programs and much more for a very affordable price. Our early convention registration <https://www.spj.org/c-register.asp> prices* are a great deal: Member: $185
Non-Member: $285
Student/Post-Grad Member: $135
Student/Post-Grad Non-Member: $185
Adviser/Retired: $135 *Early registration prices are only available until Sept. 8! Learn more about the national conference at the SPJ Convention site <http://www.spj.org/convention.asp> . And if you’re not a professional member of SPJ, you can become one for only $72. Plug that into the equation and&hellip Conference registration ($185) + annual membership ($72) = $257
Non-member conference registration = $285
Come to Vegas for our 2010 Convention and then stay with SPJ to have professional development and training at your fingertips all-year long.
