Thank you for letting me know!
Unfortunately, I was at a cabin in Koke'e and only got the information now,
as I just got back. I guess I probably missed my spot. Too bad. I'm really frustrated that
they''re overcharging on an unheated pool, and making it available to so few people.
What's the news about the fitness center above Foodland? I hope those people take over
the Makai pool as soon as possible. The Makai people don't appear to be reaching out to the
needs of the community.

Thank you again! Did you get a membership? I'm sure that a few people will be really
enjoying it.
Aloha,
Mele

Hi Mele

I decided to continue swimming at Anini. I've come to love swimming with the turtles and fish and it's only cold for a few minutes and then it's OK. I think that the Makai folks are being greedy and I don't want to support that pattern of fear. The memberships are month to month, so I'm sure that those who joined in a fit of fear that they will miss out will drop when they realize that they are not using it. I heard that the two fellows are still working on the Princeville center project but no one seems to know details.

Aloha
David

Aloha, David!
I appreciate your email. I missed the Makai sign-up while I was at Koke'e for New Years, and got my name on
a waiting list. Actually, though, I was on the fence about signing up. I've been totally enjoying my Hanalei and Anini
swims, with an occasional pool swim thrown in. I feel vital and strong when I get out, and I love walking the Bay after
my Hanalei swims. I agree that the Makai folks are being greedy; it seems that they want to open up membership to such a small number of people, and overcharge those people. In effect, no one is being served: the vision I had of a community pool is certainly not happening at Makai. I'm glad that you are enjoying Anini, too. I love seeing the turtles when I swim there!  Actually, I think the water at Anini is probably warmer than at Makai (which is NOT heated), I hope I see you down at the beach. Enjoy the water!
Aloha,
Mele

David,

I agree the tariff is too steep, if you don’t play tennis.  No instructors for classes or use of equipment, bah hum bug.  But I am hurting, need something soon!

Hi Rosalie

Yes, many are feeling the loss of the spa. We are surrounded by nature, though and there must be some way to get a good workout by hiking, biking or swimming on this beautiful Island. The closing has been a great opportunity for me to get in deeper touch with our amazing aina.

Happy New Year Rosalie

David you are so right, how spoiled we became.  Back to basics and why we moved here.

Thank you.
