Ah. OK. I didn't realize that was a "new feature". I've had a yahoo account for many years now (because of these types of lists) and have always been able to "skip" adding my cell phone. :-/ I'm sorry to hear that's not a universal thing.

From what Terafan and Doe have said, these updates WILL NOT be posted regularly on other pages.

HOWEVER - I just did a test, and you *can* subscribe to the Yahoo List without becoming a yahoo member. You might have some difficulty when it comes to files & photos, but this will at least allow you to RECEIVE e-mails and SEND e-mails. You're going to have difficulty accessing anything on the yahoo group website itself unless you sign up for a yahoo account, but at least this way, you can send & receive e-mails to the group.

First - Send an e-mail to: ' sca-eq-50ye...@yahoogroups.com ', subject line "Subscribe" (not necessary, but useful)
* You should receive a "Please confirm your request to join SCA-EQ-50YEAR" e-mail from Yahoo Groups
Second - click on the link given under "TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE GROUP"
* This will take you to the yahoo group page. Insert any information you feel like giving. I would suggest telling the List moderator what type of Delivery you would like for your e-mails (Individual e-mails or Daily Digest).
* Doe or Terafan should approve within 24 hours
* You will receive a "Yahoo Groups: Welcome" e-mail once you are approved

I just ran this test on another group that I manage/coordinate and this allowed me to send AND receive e-mails. However, it does not allow me to see files or posts on the website itself, unless I want to create a yahoo account. However, this should solve your issue of receiving the information from the list. :)

Let me know if you have any issues.

Yahoo has been doing this for “some time”. If you have an existing account, you can “skip it”, but they are apparently adamant on this when you try to create a new account. I am on a lot of Yahoo Groups and totally hate going there to see photos, documents and such because I always have to jump through the hoops to get to see the pretty pictures (ALWAYS asks me to change my password and ALWAYS asks for a phone number). This is just a “feature” of Yahoo that they use to increase security (they say). Funny that my Yahoo email address gets the most spam.

In trying to sign on as a member on the yahoo page, its requesting I become a yahoo member.  When I tried signing up for a yahoo account, it insists I give my cell number so they can send a "verification code" so I can complete my membership.

So I was wondering, is the pertinent information and updates for horses at SCA 50th going to be on a location other than the yahoo page?

Anna, what information are you talking about? I have a yahoo account, but have never had to provide a phone number.
