The City of Austin will hold an open house to discuss
options for two “stitches” over I-35 with the community. Stitches are decks on
top of the highway that are less than 300 feet long. These stitches will be
built between 41st Street and the Red Line rail crossing.
City staff will be available to answer questions in an open, informal setting.
They will explain the technical considerations for each option. This is a
come-and-go event — stop by at your convenience, explore the options, ask
questions and share your comments. Your feedback will help shape the City's
decision.
On May 22, 2025, the Austin City Council committed to
funding support structures for two stitches, each approximately 300 feet long,
over I-35 between 41st Street and the Red Line rail crossing.
The purpose of this open house is to provide the community with clear
information about the potential locations for these two stitches and to gather
public input on the options. Community feedback will play an important role in
guiding the City’s decision regarding the location and extent of these
stitches. The decision will be made by the end of 2025.
