NORTH LOOP NPCT: regular Q1 meeting NEXT WEEK WEDNESDAY!

Good afternoon neighbors.

Just a quick reminder that next Wednesday - February 11th 7pm at the Commune - will be our regular Q1 North Loop Neighborhood Plan Contact Team meeting. 

Our current agenda for that meeting is pretty full - I am sure we will have much to discuss.  Right now our main topics are as follows: 

• LEGACY on 55TH: Danielle Walker will present a new housing project on 55th Street right along the west side of the Red Line Tracks. This new development will include both low income and market rate housing for purchase.
  
  
• ZONING INFORMATION: Peter Journeay-Kaler will be talking with us about a project in the North University neighborhood that has run into some issues and discuss his neighborhood's struggles with the city and the developer.
  
  
• THE 501 UPDATE: Follow-up on our recent vote regarding THE 501 and the improvements planned along Koenig Lane and Airport. 
  
  
• NLNPCT ELECTIONS: Elect a new board!  I am stepping down as Chair to allow me to focus on my appointment to the Planning Commission.  While I will remain very involved with developments in our neighborhood and will advocate on behalf of the NLNA and NLNPCT - Katharina Michalak has offered to step up as Chair.  Steve Wise has gratefully agreed to stay on as Vice Chair - thank you Steve!  We are still looking for a volunteer for the Secretary Position - if anyone is interested.  This does not require a large time commitment but it is an important position to the NLNPCT and a great way to dip your toe in the water of neighborhood advocacy!
  
  
• IN MEMORIAM: Last, but very much not least, we will save some time at the close of the meeting to remember Kris Schluderman.  He was dedicated to the work of the NLNPCT for decades and one of the original drafters of our Neighborhood Plan.  Kris loved this city and our neighborhood and dedicated a great deal of his life to both.  Please come and share your memories of Kris and help us honor his life.

• Election of New Officers: Katharina Michalak (Chair) and Steve Wise (Vice Chair).

• Kris was dedicated to the work of the NLNPCT for decades and one of the original drafters of our Neighborhood Plan.  Kris loved this city and our neighborhood and dedicated a great deal of his life to both.  His passing is a loss for our community and he will be sorely missed. Please come and share your memories of Kris and help us honor his life.
