The Dairy & Food Inspections Division of the MN Department of Agriculture is holding two workshops on egg and poultry processing and handling.  Join the MN Department of Agriculture's Egg inspection staff as they provide information about the requirements for small flock egg and poultry processing. Small egg producers are encouraged to attend and learn about several different topics, ranging from biosecurity, pest control, Salmonella prevention, and a hands-on session on egg handling, candling, cleaning and labeling prior to sale.

University of Minnesota Duluth Ballroom

 8:30 am to 12 pm. 

 

Topics covered will be:

 

·         Overview of food safety regulatory issues with small flock egg and poultry production,

·         bird health,

·         food borne diseases related to poultry,

·         SE prevention and control,

·         biosecurity/pest control,

·         candling and grading overview,

·         case studies linked to illness outbreaks.

 

The second workshop will be held on March 16 at the University Center Rochester; 2129 Heinz Center.  It will be an expanded version of the workshop held in Duluth, from 9:30-3:30 p.m. There is a charge because lunch will be served. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Preregistration is strongly urged for an accurate lunch count.
