Subject: Hearing on Nevada Coal Plants
Friends,
We have a new President and a new Congress, and it has not looked this
favorable for policy making in the country for a long time. There is a
new spirit of activism in the air, and friends of the environment HOPE
to capitalize on this CHANGE.
Here's where you can help! Here's a message from my friend Emily
Rhodenbaugh of the Sierra Club:

Dave,
We’re still here in Reno working as hard as ever to stop the three
proposed coal plants for the state. There will be a hearing in Reno
for the draft Environmental Impact Statement created by the Bureau of
Land Management covering the potential environmental impact of White
Pine Energy Station, a proposed coal burning power plant in Nevada.
We need you at the hearing on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the
Airport Plaza Hotel, 1981 Terminal Way, Reno. It will start at 4pm,
and end at 7pm. The hearing format will likely be an "open forum",
where your oral or written comments can be submitted.
We will be conducting a phone bank on Thursday, January 29, 2009 to
get the word out. Can you join us? If so contact: Emily Rhodenbaugh in
Reno at 250 Bell St. Reno, NV 89503, Phone:
775-323-4040, email:
Emily.rh...@sierraclub.org.
If we get enough public opposition this can be the final nail in the
coffin. Please contact Emily for an update of any or all three of the
proposed coal plants in Nevada.
This is your opportunity to get involved.
