I have been increasingly troubled by the power of this lobby. I had
doubts about the Treasury Secretary and Larry Summers ability to
really serve the ordinary Americans. The big difference played out in
the treatment of those industries vs. the auto industry gave me more
concern. The "to big to fail" may also mean "too big to adequately
regulate". The recent vote on Dick Durbin's amendment to help home
owners who are upside down in their homes really sickened me. Dick
Durbin said on the Senate floor that the vote on his amendment would
show whether or not the banking industry owned the Senate. The
amendment was defeated by Republicans and 15 Democrats!!
This is a complex issue and I think that mey be the reason we see
little about it in the media. I am confident that MoveOn has the
expertise to take it on. Can we have some discussion & hopefully some
targeted action?
