TC-HOPZ October Meeting Notes

Meeting: Our October 17, 2010 meeting was held at North Peak in Traverse City.
Members present: Jay T., Blake K., Bob R., Don O., Mike D., and John N.
Business:
1. Dues were collected and as of this date we have $80 in our account. Members present signed the bylaws agreement page.
2. We discussed future meeting locations and topics:
a. Jay T. is researching the beer defect kit (AHA kit for learning and categorizing off flavors/defects). He thought the price for the kit was $150-180. So we are going to be looking for people who would like to commit to this event before Jay buys a kit. (Date to be determined)
b. We also discussed some type of cheese/beer pairing meeting.
c. Possible meeting topic is beer styles.
3. A new secretary was nominated and approved. Mike Dudek agreed to take over the responsibility of secretary. Mike and Blake will work together to resolve the Google group file sharing issue with the possibility of using a different webpage for photos, documents, and other club files.
4. Jay Thompson said that he would investigate the possibility of TC-HOPZ becoming AHA sanctioned and the benefits of sanctioning.
Next Meeting:
1. November 21, 2010. Starting at noon. Meeting at John N.’s house to see his brewing system and brew a batch of beer. Please bring your favorite homebrew to share! Directions to follow.
