Hey SSDP leaders:

I've met most of you, but not all, so let me explain that i work as the organizer for the Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance, which was founded last summer and works solely to advocate in support of medical marijuana legislation.

We've had some great success so far, obtaining endorsements of the campaign from many groups including the Mass. Bar Association, AIDS Action Committee, MA Breast Cancer Coalition, many other groups, and even four local Sheriffs.

But there is still work to be done.

The bill, H. 2160 has been languishing in its first committee for a year.  Based on meetings at the State House, it appears that the Chair of the Committee, Jeffrey Sanchez, won't pass the bill out of committee favorably unless the Speaker of the House Supports it.

So, we need to demonstrate that there is great support for this issue in the Speaker's district: Revere and Winthrop.

I'm organizing a drive to get postcards signed and letters written at polling stations in Revere during the special election to replace Senator Kennedy.

This is a chance to make a serious impact in the progression of this campaign.

Please join us for an hour or two next Tuesday, the 19th, to help with this effort.

Training and transportation two and from the polling places provided.  Snacks too!

Contact me at this e-mail or the number below if you can help out with this important initiative.

Thanks!
