Hey folks!
The land I live on was vastly cut ~15 years ago and many maple trees
grew back as coppice. We're developing a plan to put maybe 20 acres
of the into coppice rotations. We want to start right now!
What's the latest time we could cut? It's not too late since the sap
is flowing, is it?
We'll be documenting this thoroughly and experimenting with different
variables with the possibility of a nonprofit (
catalystnow.org)
sponsoring this and creating an education and research facility on the
land.
Does this interest anyone? Want to offer some advice in long and
short terms planning?
I've read Ben Laws "Woodland Way" a few times, but have never done
this, so any advice would be great. And of course I'm human and love
company so your collaboration would be stellar!
Cheers-
Alec
