Dear World Debating Community, 

With great pleasure, UT MARA would like to announce on behalf of the Malaysian debating community of our intention to bid for the hosting of World Universities Debating Championship 2015.

The Malaysia Worlds 2015 bid has secured overwhelming support and sponsorship from the Government of Malaysia, and multiple government and non-governmental agencies. (particularly the agencies under Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Higher Education).

Some of the highlights of our bid that we can promise to the debating community:

1. Flight deals 

We have secured sponsorship from Malaysia Airlines to provide either a substantial discount code for participants flying in to Malaysia or flat rate flights from several major airports from Europe, Australia, US and Africa. As for Asian and some Australian Airports, we have secured deals with AirAsia, all thanks to our collaboration with the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bereau (MyCEB) who are also proud sponsors of this bid. Stay tuned for the details!

2. Adjudication subsidies 

We have also secured sponsorship from the Ministry of Higher Education and the University's Student Affairs Division that enables us to promise an adjudication subsidy plan of USD65,000. 

3. 5-star accommodation

We have secured government backing to receive special tourism promotional rates from selected "Industry partner hotels" which are all 5-star hotels.  We are in the  midst of negotiation with several hotels in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, but to have a 5-star hotel partner is something we will commit to in this bid.

4. Affordable registration fee

Our ceiling fee is EUR380 per debater/adjudicator. However, one of our largest priorities in subsequent months after securing the bid will be the reduction of registration fee, amongst other things.

The composition of our proposed adjudication core as well as more treats will be released soon over the next few days, so stay tuned!
