Announcement of 3rd Canton IV （April.4th-7th)

Dear North East Asia,

      Guangdong Debate Society and Sun Yat-sen University English Debate Team is delighted to announce 3rd Canton Inter-varsity to be held on April.4th-7th, 2014. The format of the tournament is Asian Parliamentary. The registration is officially opened.

      CIV is the annual International tournament hosting by SYSU and assisting by GDS . SYSU has successfully hosted the tournament for the past two years and will spare no efforts in creating a better CIV this year.  As one of the most prestigious AP tournament in South China Region, we dedicate this event to debate lovers all around Asia, especially those who intend to participate UADC and Australs. You would receive below benefits from our tournament:

      -6 Preliminary Rounds and Quarter, Semi and Final and master rounds!

      -A world-class Adj-core with Sharmila Parmanand (Philippines) being our CA, Rohan Jain (Singapore), our very own Dohhee Roh from Korea being our DCAs. We are still confirming one from Malaysia and one local DCA .

     -We also guarantee you not only the quality of the Adj-core, also a qualified big pool of judges from all around Asia.

      -Challenging debate. In the previous years, we had teams from NUS, Ateneo, University of Macau, HKPU and also strong Chinese teams such as PKU, BFSU, TFSU and SYSU. We are confident that this year we have equally good and even better teams.

      -Tasty Cantonese crusine, and fancy Break night party!

       Tournament Team Cap:

       40 Teams (N-1 rule) with 5 teams limit per school

*N-1 rule means every two teams must bring one adjudicator with them while three teams with two adjudicators (same calculation goes on).   We value adjudicators as important as debaters!!

                Registration Fees         

       1. For debaters and adjudicators from China

          RMB 650  (without accommodation)

          accomodation should be dealt on site. Around RMB200 per night in a double room. (More details will be updated soon.)

       2. For foreign debaters and adjudicators

          USD 100 (without accomodation)

           USD$160 (with 3-night accommodation, 4th to 6th nights

       * Including: welcoming dinner, break-night party, champion dinner and lunches

       

     

       Registration Schedule:

      Our registration online system will be open from Jan 15, 2014 (at 0000) to MAR 21, 2014 (at 2359).

      To encourage early registration and payment, we will have 2 phases for registration.

 n       Phase One: From 22th Jan to 5th Mar, 2014: Original registration fee

 u   USD $100 (without accommodation) or $160 (with accommodation)

 n       Phase Two: 6th ~ 31st Mar, 2014:

   Original registration fee + (RMB 200 or USD$30)

 u   USD $130 (without accommodation) or $190 (with accommodation)
