Hello Ward One--

Please see the announcement from Julia Riseman, writing on behalf of the Friends of Northampton Trails and Greenways. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,

> Hello Neighbors!
>
> Mark your calendars for our Annual Trail Clean-up from 9:00 to noon on April 14th (or the 15th in case of rain) and volunteer to clean the trail. This year we are targeting the areas that need the most work. I am proud to say there isn't as much yucky, dirty work to do this year - because so many people in our community pick up trash all year round.
>
> Thank you, if you are one of the people who stops to pick up trash every time you walk the trails! And thank you to the teams of people who have worked to clear branches away since the storm in October. I appreciate the spirit of care that we bring to our trails.
>
> But sadly, some locations are still just a mess. John Powers will be leading a clean up between the bridges in downtown - one of the worst areas by far.
>
> As part of the Friends of Northampton Trails and Greenways, I am looking for other people to volunteer to lead localized clean-ups in other suffering ares. Can you help?
>
> Leading a neighborhood clean-up isn't hard. Just provide volunteers with black bags for trash and white bags for recycling, and ensure that the bags get moved to a pick-up spot for the DPW dump truck on Monday morning. I will take care of publicize the location for you, and encourage volunteers to show-up. Or you could volunteer to be a "sweeper": someone with a bike and trailer willing to move trash bags and recycling to pick-up points along the trail for the DPW.
>
> Stay in touch, and thank you for volunteering!
