Sam
I spoke to you 10 minutes ago about
installing the LED light in my condo. I am off work this week and next week and
I would like to have it done ASAP.
I have purchased a 4 feet LED
lighting from Home Depot last year.
I would like to have it
installed on the upper wall of my living room area. There is no outlet in the
living room upper wall area, but there two wall outlets at the lower wall area. One of them is on the kitchen wall switch. I wonder how you can hide the cables to make them look neat and presentable.
Could you arrange to come to look at the light and my condo
living room wall today. If you come and I may be able to arrange with the
Security Desk downstairs for you to park at the back loading
dock.
I would like to know the estimated cost. I want to have it
installed as soon as possible.
I would prefer that you use the
outlet on the right side of the sofa. You can bring the cable down and add a
switch in the midpoint of the wall so I can turn the light on and
off.
You still need to come and see it to see the full
view.
Thanks.

Thank you.
What is behind the wall
in question, another suite, another room of your unit, etc.? Or is it an external wall with nothing behind it?
consider 2 options:
1 take power from a plug controlled by the kitchen switch,
run a wire to the light location and install the light. Only the kitchen switch
will control the new light --------- less expensive
2 take power from any plug NOT
controlled by any switch, run the wire a bit to the right or to the left, then
up, install an extra wall switch, and then run the wire to the light location
and install the light. Only the new additional switch will control the new light
--------- more expensive
pls choose one option above, delete another
then pls put a colored sticker on the wall to mark the new
switch location (if you need one) and take a picture showing ONLY the right/correct
wall plug to take the power from, the sticker (if you need new switch), and bare wall (move away the
couch if it is on the way. I do not want to see the couch or another
outlet to confuse me. Unobstructed view on the pic would be the best

I believe there is another unit behind the living wall close to
the sofa area.
I would take
the option below for the LED light, but I want to be able to plug the table lamp
at the same outlet too because when I leave the condo, I want to be able to turn
off the kitchen switch and out the door.
I have chosen the option 1 --- take
power from a plug controlled by the kitchen switch, run a wire to the light
location and install the light. Only the kitchen switch will control the new
light.
You would be able
to hide the cables (with nice covering) to make them look neat and presentable
in the living room area right?
What do you mean
hole making will be necessary for you to repair? I thought it is just straight
cable running down to the outlet plug controlled by the kitchen switch on the
right side of the sofa.
If the price is
right and you understand my requirements, then I can do this tomorrow around
noon. Since this is a condo building, you need to find public parking
nearby.
In the future, if
your service and price is good, I may want to replace the track light in the
kitchen with the same LED light.
But the kitchen
and the dining areas should be easier to install since the powers are already
there in the ceiling.

John,
I would take the Option 1 below
for the LED light, but I want to be able to plug the table lamp at the same
outlet too because when I leave the condo, I want to be able to turn off the
kitchen switch and out the door. ------------ YES,
both table lamp and new LED light will be on the same kitchen switch,
both ON or both OFF
Option 1 take power from a plug controlled by the kitchen switch,
run a wire to the light location and install the light. Only the kitchen switch
will control the new light and the table lamp --------- would cost around $800.
You would be able to
hide the cables (with nice covering) to make them look neat and presentable in
the living room area right? --------- there is NO nice way
to hide the cables (with nice covering) to make it look neat and presentable.
It's an 80% chance you will regret it if you chose the exposed visible
wiremold or wireway option.
We will hide the wire completely behind the drywall
that's why we need to make holes, you repair them, paint and it will look like
the new LED light has always been there -------- cost around $800 ------ but I need
this first --------- take a pic showing ONLY the
right/correct wall plug and bare wall (move away the couch if it is on the way.
I do not want to see the couch or another outlet to confuse
me.
We can do other jobs too at the same time and
charge $75 per hour for that extra work.
Only an armored BX
cable could be used in condominiums for electrical wiring. And only licensed
electrical contractors are allowed to handle electrical work in a condo. Even a
self-employed licensed electrician is NOT permitted to do it. Otherwise it's a
provincial offense followed with a lots of very bad consequences.
$200 mandatory ESA inspection is extra.
Thank you. Sam.
