Hello all,

We spoke briefly about Northwest Connects at the OpenCoffee yesterday.
  • Warm responses to Aoife’s suggested strapline: Creative working / Smart Living.
  • Warm responses to Justin’s suggested streams: THINK, MAKE, PLAY, CONNECT.
  • Cool responses to the text-heavy website: http://www.northwestconnects.ie/ Images welcome, authors/editors/comments welcome :)
After the meeting I got some action on the venue... and good news! Venue is secured, details below.

Next planning meeting for Northwest Connects:
- Tuesday, 11am-1pm at The Centre for Design Innovation (in the BIC)

Please RSVP via email if you can attend.

Updates:

We have a new sponsor. Sched.org is going to give us the use of their collaborative scheduling tool. This was used at Reboot Britain. I will demo this in our meeting on Tuesday.

We have the venue is secured!

I met with Niall McEvoy today. He explained how the BIC is being re-branded and re-positioned: it will be called The Innovation Centre from September. Niall was very excited about supporting Northwest Connects, and explained how it fits into their plans. The Innovation Centre will have a more open face to the community, hours will be extended into the evenings and weekend with events and activities. He also suggested that the natural home for the OpenCoffee Sligo is the Innovation Centre, and invited us to have meetings there. He was very keen to support the event and OpenCoffee. He said this is exactly the type of group he wants to attract to the Innovation Centre.

He understands the event is being developed and managed by the OpenCoffee group. There are logistical things to sort out about the space- but this also means we can move forward with plans for the event.

This also means we do not have to make a proposal to the Executive Committee. We still need to work on a budget and plan for our own purposes, but all systems are GO!

This will mean we can cover alot more territory on Tuesday.

I look forward to meeting you there, and if you can’t make it, no worries, we’ll keep you in the loop, and do as much coordination and collaboration online. Please visit http://northwestconnects.ie for the updates.

Thanks, Anne Louise

If you have any information you can send me about your workshop in I can post it up. If you have a photo or something too, that would be good. Doesn't have to be you, could be of something related. I spent some time on the website for OpenCoffee Sligo today, and making a Twitter background.

Please do tell me when you have the day workshop starting up? I would love to take part.

I think it's something I sorely need. I am wondering alot about your advisory service you have. Are you taking any new clients?

Thanks

Yeah we're moving on swiftly :)

I hope you can make it. You can catch up on some of the discussions, if you have a chance, by looking at the posts on http://northwestconnects.ie/ then we can just pick up from where were left off.

Any questions or comments in the interim are welcome!
