Great meeting today, don't I always say that?

Thanks to the attendees: Eddie Johnston, Anne Louise O'Donovan, Kevin Peyton, Justin Knecht, Feargus Callagy

Next meeting at 11-1pm, 22 Sept in BIC.  Agenda next meeting: arrangement of speakers in schedule, confirmations & gaps; work background planning milestones & schedule leading up to event.

Update: This afternoon, I received a call from Paula Scallon at the Glasshouse. She would like to discuss offering an evening venue, as well as a significantly reduced rate for attendees. I will meet with her next Wednesday, 16 Sep. 9:30am.

------------------------

1. Report from speaking with Janette Gillen, Manager at the BIC:
- Saturday best day due to parking considerations.
- She needs a detailed plan from us (completed, attached draft)
- She told us the space they have available; and potential to rent (for fee) space from Education Centre or IT Sligo

2. Schedule

Please see our draft schedule attached. Justin and Kevin hammered this out. Looking at the start times, I tend to want to nudge everything out 15 minutes so things start and end on the 1/2 hour. But this is what they drafted. What do you think?

- 2 panels of 3-5(?) people, each 45 minutes long
- 15 presentations, each 20 mins long
- 3 '5x5' sessions. This gives 5 people 5 minutes to talk on a topic, flog a product or service, or give advice/information about something.
- 6 clinic times + exhibition space

The streams with the presentations and '5x5' sessions give 27 people an opportunity to speak. The panels may have overlap with presenters, but this could mean an additional 6-10 people. For a grand total of approximately 35 people presenting. That is pretty good!

With that said, we have many speaker ideas all ready. We have to be careful with the remaining invited speakers to attempt to get people from Mayo, Donegal, Derry and Roscommon. Currently most speakers are from Sligo/Leitrim area.

3. Press release polished. Denise will recirculate the press release. This is going out starting next week. This is to direct people to the site, and get them to register interest. It is also to convey the ideas behind the event and the streams.

 4. We have some speakers confirmed but... Many are men. Many from Sligo/Leitrim. Keen to find speakers from Donegal, Derry, Mayo, Roscommon. It's crucial if you have spoken to someone to confirm they are available on the Saturday. Also, determine whether they would do a 5 minute talk, a 20 minute talk, or if you recommend them for a panel or exhibition.

5. Chose date: Saturday 28 Nov 09, from 9.30-5pm + evening event. This is due to parking, and staff needing canteen.

6. John Murray was at the BIC recently. He met with Aidan McKenna and others. He heard about the event. Janette is in discussion with him. She will forward the plan and our press release. He would not come to Sligo for a 'small scale' event. The scope of the event needs to be conveyed.

7. Website plans. To promote the event, prepare for publishing content; and encourage sponsorship. Denise and Heather stayed and worked out some ideas to share with Eddie J. We will send another email on this. I will draft wireframes.

See you in two weeks!
