This is email 3 of 3. I hope this isn't bombardement, but I wanted to keep these three threads separate.

About the Keynote Panels

Two panels, top and tail the day.  Instead of one keynote speaker we'll have two keynote panels. This email has a brief description of the two panels, and then a TASK LIST of people who have signed up to help out.

Before the next meeting we want to speak to these individuals, tell them about the event, and get their commitment to participate. They will be asked to speak at the event, November 27th or 28th to be confirmed. They will likely need to attend a meeting prior to the event with members of their panel and their chair.

Chair suggestions welcome. People who can spark debate, poke the panel, and moderate discussion. Kevin? Who else?

1. Business panel: Learning from their experience

  • Voya Surf Seeds, Infacta, Lisadell;
  • Chair: John Murray?

2. Agency panel: Big picture, supports, future of the country enterprise boards

  • Joanne or Conor McNamara from WDC; LookWest; Inter-trade; EI; Local Enterprise Board;
  • Chair: Who can stick them with a few questions?

TASK LIST

You may note, I haven't signed up for anything during this time. I will be away (that's my excuse).

Kevin asks great questions.
Niall McEvoy would be a good moderator for (either panel) support
bodies. (He's former IBEC.) Nice tie-in to IT.
Definitely need to take questions from audience. Not to increase any
more coordination nightmares, but we could ask for any burning
questions in advance of the day via the website.

Hello Enda,

Thank you for this sleuthing and advocating.

This is very timely. Not only are we looking for speakers, but Feargus pointed out we didn't have a gender balance.

I hope you don't mind I'm ccing the group. So much activity, now we're getting somewhere.

We'll get the list of interested speakers, and put it all on the table on the 8th. Well done everyone. This is really a group/collaborative effort.

We'll need to speak to individuals directly to determine if they suit a panel, a presentation or a lightning talk... And find out who can offer clinic appointments.

So excited about this event, it's at least going to be memorable. I look forward to seeing what action and results come out of it.

I'll be away from today to 6th September. But I'll be checking in,

Heather

Fantastic work on the conference,

I was just talking to @onlinemeetings recently. They're an Irish company who do online collaboration software. They'd probably be willing to sponsor a slot where we have one of the speakers from say Silicon Valley.

I know Aisling McRunnels, VP of Marketing for Sun Microsystems would be more than happy to take part. She's originally from County Mayo. I had a good chat to her a few weeks back about innovation in Ireland. She's direct and an excellent speaker as well. I'm sure she'd have some things to say about forming collaboration between the NW and other pockets of innovation like The Valley.

There are other people I have in mind as well but only some of them would have direct ties to the North West.

Anyhow just a suggestion.

Regards
