Subject: Help guide the development of public outdoor recreation in New Mexico!

Good morning, Dear Members,

New Mexico State Parks is currently updating the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) to guide the future development and management of public outdoor recreation resources around the state. The primary purpose of the SCORP is to maintain state eligibility for federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants, which provide matching funds for the acquisition and development of public parks and outdoor recreation sites.

Help spread the word to your member agencies

Many of your member agencies are eligible for LWCF funding and we would love your support with engaging your community in the SCORP planning process. Please spread the word with your community via our Partner Toolkit, which includes templates for emails, social media content, and flyers. Download the materials and share today!

SCORP Regional Meetings

We hope you will join us at an upcoming virtual regional meeting. At these meetings we will present an overview of the SCORP planning process and LWCF program and facilitate a discussion about the challenges, needs, and priorities for the management of public lands and outdoor recreation amenities in New Mexico. Additionally, we hope to identify any barriers that might exist to applying for or administering LWCF funds. Below is the schedule of regional meetings; please register using the appropriate link, it takes less than one minute!

  • Northwest Regional Meeting– San Juan, McKinley, and Cibola counties
  • North Central Regional Meeting– Rio Arriba, Taos, Los Alamos, Santa Fe
  • Northeast Regional Meeting– Colfax, Union, Mora, Harding, San Miguel, Guadalupe, Quay
  • Central – Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance
  • Southwest – Catron, Socorro, Grant, Sierra, Hidalgo, Luna, Doña Ana
  • Southeast – Lincoln, Otero, De Baca, Curry, Chaves, Roosevelt, Eddy, Lea
