Dear Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Residents,

Looking for a safe and environmentally friendly way to dispose of household hazardous waste? Join us for the Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Balloon Fiesta Park (5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NW, East Lot – drive-through).

This event is your opportunity to responsibly dispose of household items that are flammable, corrosive, toxic, or otherwise hazardous to the environment. The City of Albuquerque is committed to promoting waste reduction and proper reuse of materials, and we encourage all residents of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County to take part in this valuable event. 🧯☣

Let's all work together to keep Albuquerque Beautiful, clean, safe, and sustainable. We look forward to seeing you there! 🌍

What to Know:

  • Event Time: Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Location: Balloon Fiesta Park, 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NW (East lot via drive-through)
  • Drop-off Process:
    • MUST print and fill out the participation form in advance (forms must be submitted to the volunteer at the entrance line).
    • MUST have all items visible in the trunk or backseat of your car.
    • MUST remain in your vehicle. A Safety Kleen employee will offload your hazardous waste and you can continue through the line.

Accepted Items:                                                          

  • Paints
  • Fertilizers
  • Cleaners
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Used motor oil
  • Automobile batteries
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Propane bottles
  • Medical grade oxygen cylinders
  • Over-the-counter medications

Items NOT Accepted:

  • Explosives or Ammunition
  • Other Compressed Gases
  • Radioactive Waste
  • Biomedical Waste
  • Business Generated Waste
  • Non-Hazardous Waste
  • Electronics/E-Waste
  • Appliances
  • Tires
