The agenda is packed with discussion and likely decision-making about legislation being heard by the City Council’s Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee (LUPZ) next Wednesday, August 13, including the following proposals.
(1) R-25-167, the proposed resolution to allow a temporary opt-in period for property owners on various streets—local, collector, and arterial—throughout the City to upzone single-family and other residential properties to various higher density residential and commercial zoning. The general approach in the legislation is to allow a step up in all residential zoning.

(2) R-25-175, the proposed resolution to amend the Comprehensive Plan to redesignate the Menaul Corridor (Menaul Blvd/Indian School Road/Rio Grande Blvd south to I-40) from “multi-modal” to “major transit.”

3) O-25-89 and O-25-90, two proposed ordinances meant to make it easier for non-profits and others to establish and operate Safe Outdoor Spaces. Under the committee substitute for O-25-90, the limit on SOSs would remain at 2 per Council district.
