ONC Hosting "Coffee On Your Corner" This Wednesday, May 14 in Council District 9


The Office of Neighborhood Coordination (ONC) is hosting its next "Coffee On Your Corner" on Wednesday, May 14 in Council District 9. All residents and business owners in District 9 are invited to join the ONC staff and City Councilor Renée Grout (D-9) at the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth SE, from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. for conversation, light refreshments, and the opportunity to network with city staff and fellow D9 residents. University Area Command Hosting "Coffee With a Cop" This Saturday


The University Area Command of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is hosting "Coffee With A Cop" this Saturday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the 505 Supermarket, 816 San Mateo SE in the east parking lot. This is a great opportunity for residents to come and meet the officers, share concerns and ask questions, and enjoy complimentary coffee. Bernalillo County Invites Neighborhood Associations To Apply For Neighborhood Grants


All recognized associations throughout Bernalillo County are invited to apply for Bernalillo County's 2026 Neighborhood Grant Program, a funding opportunity designed to help build and support strong neighborhoods and active residents. This unique grant program provides limited funding for a broad range of projects and programs focused on enhancing the safety, beauty, and connectivity of neighborhoods in the county. Recognized neighborhood associations are eligible to receive up to $7,500 for large projects or $2,500 for small projects. Association members must be the lead coordinators of their proposed projects, all of which must occur within Bernalillo County. Approved projects and programs must also be free and open to all residents within the association’s boundaries. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, June 11, 2025. All neighborhood associations selected to receive funding through the Neighborhood Grant Program will be required to attend a mandatory meeting in July. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Taking Place Saturday, May 31


The Solid Waste Management Department (SWM) is hosting its annual free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 31, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Balloon Fiesta Park, 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NW in the east lot. Participants must print and fill out the participation form and submit in the entrance line, must have all drop-off items visible in the trunk or backseat of your car, and must remain in their vehicles. A Safety Kleen employee will offload the hazardous waste. Accepted Items include: paints, fertilizers, cleaners, pesticides, pool chemicals, used motor oil, automobile batteries, fire extinguishers, propane bottles, medical-grade oxygen cylinders, and over-the-counter medications. Items that will not be accepted include: explosives, ammunition, other compressed gases, radioactive waste, biomedical waste, business-generated waste, non-hazardous waste, electronics/e-waste, appliances, and tires. National Water Safety Day Promotes Aquatic Safety Best Practices


Sunday, May 18 is National Water Safety Day and the Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to Eisenhower Pool, 11001 Camero NE, for a day of free, family-friendly events designed to teach about water safety. NMDOT Warns of Toll Scam


The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) warns the public of an ongoing text and e-mail message scam, in which recipients receive threatening text or e-mail messages stating they owe fines for unpaid tolls on toll roads. However, New Mexico has no toll roads. If you or someone you know receives this type of text message, do not click on any links or scan any QR codes in the messages, and delete and block the sender. Water Utility Authority Hosting Online Class and Offering Rebate on Water Bills


The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) invites you to their next online class to help you Weather the Drought. In “Xeriscape: Making Your Yard Desert-Friendly,” you’ll learn new ways to reduce water use outdoors. Wells Park Grand Re-Opening and Accompanying Neighborhood Walk Coming Up May 24


The Wells Park Grand Re-Opening takes place Saturday, May 24 at 11:30 and the public is invited to come out and enjoy the new and improved park. There will be fun activities for the whole family. The Office of Neighborhood Coordination (ONC) is coordinating a Neighborhood Walk in Wells Park to commemorate the park's reopening.
