National Coffee With A Cop Day This Wednesday


The public is invited to attend one of the many Coffee with a Cop events happening on National Coffee With A Cop Day this Wednesday, October 1. These events provide our community a great opportunity to connect with local police officers, share concerns and ask questions, and enjoy complimentary coffee and refreshments. Rescheduled Neighborhood Walk This Saturday, October 4


The Office of Neighborhood Coordination (ONC) had to reschedule the Neighborhood Walk originally scheduled for Saturday, September 27 with the Onate Neighborhood Association. The Walk will now take place Saturday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m., starting and ending at Brentwood Hills Park, 2104 Chelwood Park NE. We will explore the surrounding areas, and discuss neighborhood development and safety. Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather, and leave four-legged pals at home. The Animal Welfare Department would like you to meet Jack, ID# A1918124, a 3-year-old brown Australian Cattle Dog mix. Jack is a sweetheart with excellent manners on his leash and off. He loves to be petted and is content to just lay down next to you, relaxing. He is also down for some walks and hiking. Jack is a delightful dog and deserves a good home. If you want to give Jack the loving home he deserves, visit him at the Eastside shelter. To view and/or adopt pets, simply drop by any of the open locations. Tree New Mexico Seeking Volunteers for Planting Event in October

Bernalillo County Hosting Free Tire Amnesty Day This Saturday


Bernalillo County is hosting a free Tire Amnesty event this Saturday, October 4 starting at 8:00 am. at the NMSU Bernalillo County Cooperative Extension Office, 1510 Menaul NW. A maximum of nine (9) passenger car or truck tires per vehicle will be accepted. No other trash will be accepted. Attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles until directed to unload their tires. NMDOT Seeks Input on Big I Operations Study


The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is conducting an Interchange Operations Study for the I-40/I-25 interchange—commonly known as the Big I. Located near the heart of Albuquerque, the Big I connects two of New Mexico’s busiest highways: Interstate 40 and Interstate 25. This critical interchange serves tens of thousands of commuters each day, providing vital access to regional employment centers, educational institutions, shopping districts, medical facilities, and residential neighborhoods. City Closures for Indigenous Peoples Day


Indigenous Peoples Day is observed on Monday, October 13 and many City offices will be closed. However, there will be trash and recycle pickup as usual, the 311 Call Center will be open and taking calls, there will be regular bus and Sun Van service, and the BioPark, golf courses, swimming pools and tennis courts will be open. Albuquerque Community Foundation Hosting "Rooted Together" Celebration


The Albuquerque Community foundation is hosting a "Rooted Together" kickoff celebration on Friday, October 17 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. "Rooted Together" is a community-centered initiative that brings neighbors, nonprofit partners, and donors together to celebrate local impact, shared values, and the power of collective giving over the course of two years. The kickoff celebration is a downtown block party at 624 Tijeras NW, and there will be live music, food and much more. This event is free and open to all, but registration is required. State Parks Offering Free Day-Use Access to New Mexico Residents


Starting October 1 through April 30, New Mexico residents can take advantage of free day-use access at most state parks by showing their valid NM identification. Day-use entry fees are waived. Residents can also enjoy increased stay limits for camping, up to 14 consecutive days. Please note this does not apply to parking at the Rio Grande Nature Center. The Animal Welfare Department would like you to meet Chimmy, ID# A1929225, a 4 -year-old black American Pit Bull Terrier mix who is a lovebug. She is a happy girl with a wagging tail and plenty of wiggles to share. Chimmy knows “sit” and takes treats very gently. She loves her stuffies and will happily cuddle up with them or play for hours.  Chimmy is the perfect size and strikes the ideal balance between being independent and wanting to just be by your side. Bernalillo County Offering Uber Code During Balloon Fiesta


Through 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, residents of Bernalillo County can open the Uber app and enter the code BALLOON25 under the “Vouchers” section to receive up to $10 off two rides. Solid Waste Management and Keep Albuquerque Beautiful Hosting "Dash For The Trash This Saturday


"Dash for the Trash" is a community event hosted by Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and the Solid Waste Management Department on Saturday, October 11, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, aimed at beautifying the Bosque area through a fun and competitive cleanup. Prizes will be awarded to the top cleaners. The Bosque, a beloved natural area, requires continual care, and "Dash for the Trash" provides the perfect opportunity for individuals to unite and make a meaningful difference. The event starts on the Bosque Trail off Central and Sunset Blvd, in the dirt lot next to Bessie’s at 3915 Central Ave NW. Look for A-frame signs to direct you.
