Hello Neighbors,
Last Wednesday a few of us from AGNA met with ABQ Open Space, Albuquerque Fire Department and Middle Rio Grand Conservancy District to walk the Bosque to show them our concern about the amount of fire fuel that is on the river now. It gave us the opportunity to get on the same page about the amount of fuel, what should stay for habitat and plans going forward. We agreed Open Space would choose a day this month to start this process.
ABQ Open Space has finally decided on a day for us do our first official clean up in the Bosque together. It'll be next Thursday July 24th. Open Space is running on a skeleton crew these days and agreed to start a clean up in our area only if the neighbors were willing to come help and so I am asking for your help on July 24th at 7 a.m. We'll meet at the gates at the west end of Campbell. Please bring water, heavy duty gloves, sturdy shoes and a great attitude that at long last the clean up can begin. I'd suggest wearing pants as we will be dragging small to larger pieces of downed wood which will protect your legs from scratches. I believe Open Space will bring a dump truck, trailer, and chain saws.
Kindest regards,
Stephanie Martinez
