Local Vendors Ready to Serve Up Chile at Annual Bosque Chile Fest

County – BernCo’s Bosque Chile Fest is bringing the heat this weekend to
Villa Hispana at Expo New Mexico with local crafters and vendors focused on all things chile.
The event kicks off Saturday, Aug. 19 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continues Sunday, Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ristra making demos and chile roasting by Chile Konnections and Senior Torta will be held on both days. Other vendors will include green chile candles by The Living Flame Candle, green chile infused honey from Honey Shack, red chile infused olive oil from Santa Fe Olive Oil, green chile chocolate chip cookies from Koo-Weh Cookies and much more. Event sponsor El Pinto will offer samples of its new line of Scorpion Salsa and Alitas and Tinos Tacos will serve New Mexican food. Adult beverages are also on tap with two bars selling beer, wine, and chamoy and red chile rim margaritas.
Each day, the first 500 adult eventgoers will receive a free event t-shirt. Visitors can also participate in Bernalillo County’s Public Art Program and make a custom chalk art coaster to take home for free. Chalk artist Holly West who created a large mural for the event will also be on site.
The event will also feature seven local bands, DJ Pancho and a salsa lesson with popular salsa instructor Jessica Montoya. On Saturday, performers will include Baracutanga, and Son Como Son. The party continues Sunday with the Nathaniel Kratz Band, Nosotros, Hooks and the Huckleberries, Tylor Brandon and Darren Cordova.
Tickets are $12.50 for a single day or $20 for both days. Children age 2 and under are free. Tickets must be purchased on Eventbrite.com.
Parking is $10 per car and is located through gate 3 on San Pedro and Copper. Pickup and drop-off for ride-hailing services is located at gate 4.
