RE: Invite to the Neighborhood Associations – (Nov. 1) Howl-a-Day of the Dog Pet Parade & Costume Contest & Give Candy to Kids

Dear Neighborhood Association Leader,

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is excited to invite the Neighborhood Association and your neighborhoods to join our upcoming community celebration, Howl-a-Day of the Dog Pet Parade and Costume Contest, on Saturday, November 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The parade will kick off at the Albuquerque Rail Trail by the steel arch in the Sawmill District on Bellamah Ave NW and conclude at Tiguex Park.

This free, family-friendly event brings together pets, owners, and animal lovers from across Albuquerque for a morning filled with costumes, prizes, and community spirit. We would love for your neighborhood association to spread the word and encourage residents to participate in the fun.

Event Highlights:

  • Pet parade and costume contest with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
  • Halloween and Día de los Muertos–inspired costumes
  • Opportunity to honor and remember beloved pets who have passed
  • Remembrance Table: Attendees are encouraged to bring a small item in memory of a beloved pet (photo, collar, keepsake) to honor their life during the celebration.
  • Festive entertainment led by the Mariachi Herencia, Atrisco Heritage Academy High School
  • Appearances by the beloved Orbit mascot and local vendors
  • A safe, fun space for families, pets, and neighbors to gather along the Rail Trail

Participation Opportunities:

  • Vendors/Community Partners: We invite your neighborhood association to set up a table at Tiguex Park (1800 Mountain Rd) and bring candy to share with children. There is no vendor fee.
    • Setup begins at 10:15 a.m.
    • Booth teardown is at 12:45 p.m.
    • Vendors are responsible for bringing their own table and chairs

Please let us know no later than October 20 if your neighborhood association is interested in participating as a vendor so we can reserve your space.

For more information or to reserve a spot, please contact:
