to North Fork Birds
Bev has been visiting the great North Fork. We have a set things we do. I took her to Frisky Oyster for her Birthday and we go to Inlet Pond to see the bench dedicated to Tony Prentice. We spent time in the new garden for Rick and viewing the feeders. Surprisingly, we had a FIELD SPARROW and a SWAMP SPARROW amidst the SONG and the WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. Also JUNCOS at the feeders. Linda had time to join us for the stroll. At the Pond, she was a large bird in the sky. It was a second year BALD EAGLE and a little while down the trail, we had another Eagle, just getting a white head. We heard RAVEN and then saw two birds flying away. Bev has difficulty walking, so after a view from the platform, I walked back to the parking lot to get the Jeep and picking up Bev and Linda from the Moores Lane ext. I saw a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER before I got to the car. At Moores Lane ext, we had GOLDEN and RUBY CROWNED KINGLETS. We took a ride to my sister's Rachel new house. Visit over, we headed to Great Pond where we picked up CAGOs, MALLARD, SWAN and GADWALL. Time for lunch and we went to Nookies. We were going to part company when Linda saw a bird on the Osprey nest platform. I looked at the bird and it was a mature Bald Eagle! I like good surprises.
