Hank and I bird like mad people, criss-crossed the Island.  The story this weekend was the raptors.  The surprise at Suffolk Co Farm was the ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK!  We saw it hovered over the fields, quick wing beats. It was a light adult male.  Everywhere we went on Saturday, there were RAVENS.  From a woman who couldn't image Raven being here when on Sunday Hank and I didn't have a Raven..... I missed them.  They are "taking over" the Island. I image they are laughing at easy prey and in a few strokes of their wings, they could be long gone. So I include the Raven in the predator category.  At Chandler Estate, BLUE JAYS helped us "find" a GREAT HORNED OWL.  Jays are quite vocal, everywhere!
I enjoy the Blue Jays vocalizations!   We saw a BROAD-WINGED HAWK at Southold Dunes and a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK on Bridge Lane and had two HARRIERS, one a gray ghost and a female/juvie and a RED-TAIL HAWK.  Adding to the raptor total, TURKEY VULTURE, COOPER'S HAWK and OSPREY,  we had 9 species!  I include the Raven.  We didn't have an Eagle.... surprisingly.  We weren't skunked in the warblers, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, PARULA, PINE and BUTTA BUTTS.  Next up Sparrows and Thrushes.

Wow.You really did an Island adventure. Good thing the pumpkin pickers haven’t arrived yet. Great day list.

Ohhhhh yes they are!
Pumpkin pickers are everywhere!

And yea, Jody gets around! 😜
While she missed the bald eagle,
It was flying over our houses so I sent the video to her. 🦅
