Hank and I were at Cedar Beach on Saturday and Hank thought he saw Whimbrel but the next day we discovered three Short-billed Dowitchers. This morning KJ went to Cedar Beach for WHIMBRELS and found two..... right on schedule.... Mid-July. I got brushed and washed up and got dressed and went searching. It was hot.....in spite of a mild breeze. I picked a spot where I could see most the marsh and scanned with my bins and spotting scope. I saw OYSTERCATCHERS, WILLETS, CAGOs, OSPREY, GREEN HERON, GREAT EGRET, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST SANDPIPERS and finally saw one WHIMBREL! Yay!
Oh, the notebook the KC found was mine. I lost it at the VOR in Riverhead at the beginning of May. Hopefully, she will returned it.
I recently did blood work and my doc found another tick disease and am on antibiotics now. Starting to feel better.
I'm got a bucket list item coming up. I'm going to Vermont with a friend to see a Falconry demonstration and doing it myself! I'm so excited!
