Anyone had problems with their HDMI to VGA adapters in terms of power requiremnts.

i got an adapter but when i try to use it my Pi won't boot. i suspect it's a power issue even though
the adater i'm running off is more than the reccomended ampage

Anyone else experienced similar ?

We did have a problem when playing in MakerSpace once with one PSU not
powering the Pi if the VGA adaptor was plugged in. Never had a problem
with my PSU though so I would try another one.

Glen, measure the voltage between TP1 and TP2 without the adapter
plugged in and with the adapter plugged in, it should be > 4.85VDC in
both cases

tried that. just over 5v regardless of if the adapter is plugged in or not.

the monitor has a green light on which would suggest it is receiving something but it's not displaying anything
tried two other monitors same thing. tried two power suplies too. Wondering if i actually have a faulty adpater or if my two power suplies are not up the the job.

i really need a known working set up (PSU / Pi / Monitor)  just to try my adapter in

got this working last night with Alistair’s help. seems om an ideal world when you move from PAL composite output

oops sent that a tad premature

Got this working last night with Alistair’s help. seems in an ideal world when you move from PAL composite (default) to HDMI inputit should switch automatically. but they don't always. instead you need a config.txt file in /boot to set up the video params.
