It is rather fun.

I remember someone doing it with there aircraft luggage many years ago that was revealing. Later there was a TV documentary investigating luggage handling using hidden cameras in baggage and I would by surprised if that was no it inspired by the first project.

Anything interesting we could do?

Would be interested in trying something similar in the future, when we have more time

Pretty cool video.

I'm sure BBC did something similar where they shipped a shipping
container with a GPS and monitored its progress as it travelled the
world oceans.

Shipping goods with sensors, for vibration, accelerometer, temperature
and humidity and a datalogger is quite common, especially for
expensive items being ship.

Sending something abroad would be interesting.  Maybe we could arrange tk send something to another hackspace and the have them remove the data collected so far,  charge it up.  Make necessary repairs and then post it onward to another hackspace etc
with enough hackspaces  in the right order we could send it all the way around the world and back to us!

Maybe have a word with Ian on Dangerous Prototypes about a list of hackerspaces he trusts because they currently have a big box of parts making its way around the world http://dangerousprototypes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3780
also to help with the battery life on the longer trips you could maybe add some kind of energy harvesting circuit using a kinetic charger like this one http://www.gizmag.com/the-etive-kinetic-energy-charger-gives-power-walking-a-whole-new-meaning/11750/

Great idea Glen, sort-of message in a bottle, or message in a Pi,
except without any water. As well as download and recharging we could
get them to take pictures of their space and themselves and copying
them to it before sending it onto the next hackerspace

Good idea.

It's not part of this is it?  Http://tgimboej. org

I love the idea of a kinetic charger !
