My Friends,
I believe we need a united country looking forward, not a divided nation that looks back. As a United States Senator, I promise you that I will do all that is in my power to ensure we stand united. I have worked tirelessly on your behalf to lead the fight to cut wasteful spending and reform Washington and will continue to be a voice in the U.S. Senate for the issues that matter most to you and your family. But I won't be able to continue my work on your behalf if I am not re-elected. That's why I'm asking you to make a contribution of any amount you can afford to my re-election campaign before our monthly deadline this Thursday, the 30th. My friend, I am troubled - as I am sure you are - by many of the trends I see in Washington from the current Democratic Congress and Administration. The out-of-control spending is truly disgraceful and is only getting worse. We need to stop recklessly mortgaging our children's and grandchildren's futures, and I am committed to fighting against such spending. Citizens Against Government Waste recently released their annual "Pig Book" - a list of the worst pork offenders in Congress. This year, they've identified more than 10,000 pork barrel projects that waste nearly $20 billion of your tax dollars in 2009 alone - a 14% increase from last year! The Pig Book is yet another example of President Obama neglecting to fulfill his campaign pledge by squandering the opportunity to take a stand against pork barrel spending. Those on the far-left also continue to play politics on issues of national security. The latest is the release of previously classified memos detailing United States interrogation methods and the vocal desire of many on the far-left to prosecute previous Bush Administration officials in what can only be described as a pure political maneuver. My friends, we must look forward, not backward. I ask that you join me today and pledge your support for my campaign to look forward by making a generous contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more in the next 48 hours. Please take action today. Thank you. Sincerely, ![]() John McCain P.S. As you may have heard, I now have an official opponent in the Republican primary. I want you, as one of my strongest supporters, to know that I am taking nothing for granted in this campaign. My opponent has shown that he has the ability to raise money from sources across the country. To win, I will need your continued financial support. Any amount you can contribute online to my re-election campaign in the next 48 hours will show our grassroots strength. Please follow this link to make your contribution today. I am sincerely grateful for your continued generosity. -John ![]() |
