The discussion will focus on current food waste challenges in the District of Columbia and the approaches being utilized by local restaurants, culinary educators, community gardens and businesses to reduce food waste and create a cycle that brings compost back into our communities. This will be followed by time for community Q&A, so please come prepared with questions.
Following the discussion, attendees will have chance go on a short tour of the gardens, learn how Columbia Heights Green generates its
compost and receive free seeds to plant next spring from Share a Seed!
Come prepared with a small reusable container to take home locally-made
compost to use in your own garden.
Free tickets are available
HERE, but a $5 donation to the event organizer, Slow Food DC – a local non-profit dedicated to good, clean, and fair food in the DMV – is suggested.
