 Harvest Fest - Saturday Oct. 29th - 1-5pm

Join Parks & People for our 6th annual Harvest Fest!!! This year will be our BIGGEST Harvest Festival thus far! Come celebrate the fall harvest with a variety of fun activities for the entire family! We’ll have live music, cooking demos, free food, fresh fall veggies, games, pumpkin carving, and MUCH MORE! Free tickets on Eventbrite HERE

 WOW's Autumn Heart-Fest Mini Retreat - Sunday Oct. 30th - 12-5pm

Led by Dulcie Witman and Nancy Coleman, Wide Open Writing (WOW) co-founders, and joined by Nadine Epstein, award-winning journalist and media/social entrepreneur, editor/publisher/ visual artist and co-author (with Ruth Bader Ginsburg) of RBG’s Brave and Brilliant Women and Jörgen UNOM JG, spoken word artist, singer/songwriter, host, workshop leader, you will spend the afternoon generating a genuine voice-lifting, spirit-lifting good time in pop-up writing sessions as well as practices such as:

  • Art and Movement as a Portal

  • Harvesting Music and Movement Through Spoken Word

  • Dance to the Harvest

  • Rhythm in the Park Drum Circle

  • garden-to-table refreshments

  • fall in the air and KINDRED SPIRITS and

  • Writing, writing, writing!

 Día de Los Muertos Procession & Dedication Ceremony - Tuesday, Nov. 1st - 6pm

Parks & People will be joined by GALA Hispanic Theatre, Wide Open Writing, and Black spoken word artist Jörgen UNOM JG for a special procession and ceremony in celebration of life, community, and the diverse cultures who have made this hilltop home for 1,000 generations. The costumed music and dance procession, led by GALA's Paso Nuevo youth group, will leave GALA Hispanic Theatre at 5:30pm and proceed to Columbia Heights Green for the ceremony and liberation fire circle. The procession and celebration are free and welcome to all.
