Dear Ms. Brandom,

My name is David Schwartz, and I am a Staff Attorney with Our Children's Trust - a non-profit, public interest law firm that litigates climate change cases on behalf of youth and young people. I obtained your contact information through my colleagues. I am writing because OCT is preparing to submit public comments to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection by this coming Monday 9/29 concerning the proposed Homer City Generation gas-fired power plant. The DEP is currently evaluating, and intends to eventually issue, the key air quality permit for this project and if approved, the project would become the largest gas-fired power plant in the country, producing over 17 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.

My organization is seeking to have concerned young Pennsylvanians and parents / guardians (on behalf of their children) sign onto our comment letter, which argues, among other points, that DEP's approval of the air quality permit for the project would violate DEP's obligations and Pennsylvanians' fundamental rights under Pennsylvania's Environmental Rights Amendment, Article I, Section 27, Pa. Const.
