Frontline community members, advocacy groups, and concerned citizens are responding to unambiguous comments Kurt Klapkowski, Director of the DEP's Bureau of Oil and Gas Planning and Program Management, made to the PA Grade Crude Development Advisory Council that indicate that the agency is working to develop data that will, once again, allow the road spreading of toxic, radioactive drilling wastewater on Pennsylvania roads. The letter's authors urge the agency to ban outright the practice that was halted under a moratorium established in 2018. Individuals and organizations are invited to sign the letter
here. If you have any questions about the letter, please contact
Karen Feridun, Founder of Berks Gas Truth and Co-founder of the Better Path Coalition. The deadline to sign is September 20 at noon.
If you missed the story reported by Dave Hess in his blog, you can
read it here and even listen to a recording of Klapkowski making his comments.
