Dear Rebecca,

Do you have an old gas well or other gas infrastructure next to your property? Gas infrastructure can leak and cause air and water pollution, potentially impacting your health. Methane and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions are invisible to the human eye and can be extremely harmful to human health.

This is why Protect PT is partnering with Earthworks to do a health and safety tour November 3 and 4 of oil and gas development in Westmoreland County. Earthworks uses Optical Gas Imaging technology to visually capture emissions from oil and gas infrastructure.

If you have nearby oil or gas infrastructure that is visible from your property, please contact ma...@protectpt.org or call us at 724-392-7023 to see if your site would be eligible for a stop on the health and safety tour. A tour stop would entail our staff and partners from Earthworks taking pictures and footage using the optical gas imaging camera of a well that is visible from your property. If emissions are found at your site, we will provide you with guidance on next steps to take.

Hazardous Waste: What You Can Do to Help Close the Waste Loopholes in PA
While Pennsylvania is the leading producer of oil and gas waste, this waste is exempted from PA hazardous waste regulations. These wastes can contain carcinogens, radioactive materials and other harmful substances. Currently, the regulations do not require that oil and gas waste products are tested before being disposed of in landfills, injection wells and other disposal methods. Residents and families should not be exposed to these wastes.

Join us Thursday October 28th @ 6 pm for a webinar with PA Representative Sara Innamorato and Senator Katie Muth to learn What You Can Do to Help Close the Waste Loopholes in PA.
